In suitable patients, Fotona’s 2940 nm Erb YAG laser can effectively treat mild to moderate stress/urge incontinence, painful sexual intercourse, vaginal atrophy, recurrent infections and itchiness, burning and/or dryness associated with menopause. It does not replace hormone replacement therapies or surgically installed mechanical supports for all women, but where appropriate offers a new less invasive and highly effective vaginal rejuvenation option.
As a non-ablative, minimally invasive procedure, Erb YAG represents a safer and faster solution that avoids the undesirable complications present with other vaginal tightening methods.
Fotona’s Erb Yag has non-ablative setting called “Smooth-mode” which heats the vaginal tissue, stimulating collagen remodeling and the synthesis of new collagen fibers in the vaginal mucosa tissue. The final result is increased tissue quality and elasticity, increased blood flow to the vagina, tightening of the vaginal canal and the rejuvenation of aged, damaged and irritated tissue. The treatment can help to normalise the pH of the vagina and reduce recurrent infections for many women. The restoration of a ‘normal’ vaginal environment and improved tissue quality also increases lubrication.
Improved blood flow and tissue tone reduces pain, improves sexual and urinary function and may increase sexual gratification.
Not all women are suitable for vagianl laser rejuvenation. Each patient must have a medical consultation to discuss and determine their suitability prior to undergoing treatment. A standard treatment plan consists of a preliminary medical consultation and initial three to four sessions over 8 to 16 weeks plus a “booster treatment” around 12 months.
